Anyone can see the eye doctors at Costco remember, they are independent operators. When you reach the front entrance where people usually have to show their membership cards to get in, let the associate know that youre there for an eye exam and theyll let you in.

What Insurance Does Costco Optical Not Take
Interestingly, a good portion of Costco Optical centers do not accept insurance at all, but you can bill your eye care products through your insurance.
Even at Costco Optical locations that take insurance, there are a few insurance plans that are extremely rare for Costco Optical to accept.
For example, nearly no Costco Optical locations accept Humana, TRICARE, CareCredit, EyeMed Vision Benefits, Cigna Vision Insurance, WellCare, or Aetna.
Theres no harm in calling your local Costco Optical to see if they accept your insurance, even if it is one of the plans rarely accepted.
You might live next to one of the few locations that accept these rarer forms of vision insurance.

The Costco Vision Center and glasses review below was completed by Vicki, cofounder of Women Who Money. She used a Costco Eye Center for an eye exam and four new pairs of glasses.
After tiring of squinting , I knew it was time to get an eye exam. I typically use local vision centers but remembered they were available at Costco also.

Who Accepts Vsp Insurance
The most well-known vision care provider that accepts VSP insurance is Pearle Vision.
Many large retail chains and online retailers like Walmart and Sears do not accept VSP, but many independent doctors, optometrists, and optical centers do.

Costco offers a very convenient time to get your eyes tested. Costco has all the newest technology and equipment which means that your optometrist may not have everything that you need. It’s really great that they can do their eye exams right on site there is no need to travel to a different facility or stand in line at an office.

Is Costco A Vsp Provider
According to Costco Opticals website, Costco accepts most vision insurance plans. But we had to do a little digging to find out exactly what that means.
Unfortunately, Costco is not a VSP network provider. Customers can still use Costco Optical with VSP insurance, but Costco is treated as an out-of-network provider. So, customers are responsible for submitting claims for reimbursement after receiving care.
Whats the difference between out-of-network and in-network providers?
Good question. Out-of-network means that your provider and your insurance company dont communicate. In other words, your provider wont be able to bill your insurance company directly because there is no existing relationship between the two companies. An in-network provider is a provider that has an established relationship with your insurance company and can take care of the billing process for you.
A provider being out-of-network does not have to mean that you wont be able to work with that provider. It just means youll have a little bit of extra leg work to do in order to get your care covered. To submit an out-of-network coverage claim to VSP, simply follow the steps listed on their website here.

How Long Does It Take To Get Glasses From Costco
If you order glasses for in-person pickup, Costco states they will take about 7 days to process. If you order glasses delivered to your home, itll also take 7 days to process plus an additional 7 to 14 days to ship.
When checking review websites, I found mixed reactions to the shipping time. Many of the negative reviews mention that the glasses took longer than stated to arrive.

What You Need To Know About Medicare And Eyeglasses
According to Medicare Part A and Part B rules, glasses and other corrective lenses must be covered. Original Medicare will not normally cover prescription sunglasses, contact lenses, or eyeglasses. Eyeglasses and other corrective lenses, on the other hand, may be covered in cases where they are deemed medically necessary, such as after cataract surgery. If you need additional assistance, professional societies or charitable organizations may be able to assist you. Part B does not cover routine vision screening, eyeglasses, or contact lenses. In some cases, such as macular degeneration and cataracts, Medicare will pay for testing and treatment.
